When Roberto joined Boulder Housing Partners (BHP) in January 2025, he brought a deep passion for people and connections to his work at Golden West. As the Resident Service Coordinator, Roberto supports around 250 residents today. With over 25 years of experience in human services, Roberto approaches each day with compassion and commitment to finding positive outcomes.
“I absolutely love working with older adults,” Roberto shares. “Some writers, artists, readers, we admire them all. They bring so much wisdom and life experience to our community.”
Roberto is especially inspired by the strong sense of community at Golden West. He says many of the residents are strong women who have lived independently for some of their lives. They have deep roots in how they approach things and create a wonderful sense of belonging here.
Finding solutions to residents’ needs is what Roberto finds most fulfilling in his work; he says the human connection to residents is what keeps him motivated. “It’s the best feeling when someone leaves my office feeling heard, supported, and hopeful.”
Since Boulder Housing Partners began managing Golden West, Roberto has seen many positive changes. He says that residents tell him they feel that BHP is responsive and that small improvements, like easier applications, are making a big difference. “I’m proud that people feel welcome in my office and they know they can come to me when they need support.”
Outside of work, Roberto enjoys a full and vibrant life. An avid traveler, he has visited 76 countries and every continent. “The world is a big place that offers so much to learn from,” he says. His global adventures when younger brought him to the Bering Sea to work on the TV show “Most Dangerous Job” and has shaped his deep appreciation for nature, culture, and human connection.
Family is also at the heart of Roberto’s life. He loves spending time with his daughter, who now lives in Chicago and recently published on National Geographic, and his son, who is enjoying a gap year after completing his first year of college. “Having children later in life has been a blessing. Supporting them and spending time together is everything.”
To the residents and families of Golden West, Roberto expresses gratitude. “It is truly fulfilling to earn your trust and feel the warmth of this community. I will always do my best to support you and work alongside you.”
