Sandy Back, the director of culinary and hospitality at Golden West Senior Living, was named manager of the quarter by New Horizon Foods, Inc., Golden West’s food service provider. Back has held her position at Golden West for one year.
“Sandy has been vital to creating a partnership between New Horizon Foods and Golden West,” said Leslie Tapia, New Horizon Food’s district healthcare manager. “To Sandy, being good or great is not good enough — she strives to be the best, which only benefits the residents, associates and leadership team at the community.”
Every quarter, New Horizon Foods names one employee within the provider’s senior living sector manager of the quarter. The manager must exhibit an outstanding performance, excellence in all areas of dining operations, and go above and beyond the normal responsibilities of their position.
“Sandy excels in all that comes her way,” Tapia said. “Over the past quarter, Sandy has taken on the task of creating the company newsletter on top of all the responsibilities that this large community [Golden West] requires. Sandy also led the New Horizon Foods team in the 2017 Colorado Health Care Association & Center for Assisted Living Chef Challenge and came away with the first place win.”
With over six years of experience in the food service industry, Back has held positions as sous chef for Snooze: an A.M. Eatery in Boulder, executive chef of Nebraska Governor’s Residence and various roles for Southeast Community College’s food service and hospitability program.
